Cesky Krumlov Lodging

Ok, we're close. Just need something for our one night in CK.

The train station is on the northern outskirts of town. The downtown is located on the east side of Vlatva River, inside a little meander. There are no cars (awesome). I picture it similar to Gamla Stan in Stockholm. It's probably 15 minutes from the train station.

They appear to have a lot of small bed and breakfasts and a few big hotels. The hotels seem to be $150/night or more. I'm not sure if there is a better chance that hotel employees speak english.

1) Pension Ametyst. Looks nice. Breakfast to your room or on the patio. Its like $50/night. Or $75 for the suite. May not have wifi, only plug in internet. It's located north of downtown on the other side of the river, near the edge of the pedestrian area.

2) Hotel Barbora if we feel more comfortable with the hotel route. $100/night. Breakfast not included, but there is a restaurant. I can't tell if it has wifi.

3) Penzion looks nice. About $100/night. Free breakfast. In the downtown area. Had to email them about availability. Not sure about wifi.

4) Also sent an email inquiry to Hotel Zlaty Andel

Plenty more out there if we don't like any of these. We could always wing it. Or priceline it. It's only 1 night.

I like #1, but would prefer wifi. I suppose we can probably survive being "unplugged" for 24 hours. It might be nice.

    1. Is that one available?

It's Frommer's recommended, but I feel like I looked at it and ruled it out for some reason.

  2. According to booking.com it's available but the website makes it seem like you contact them directly regarding availability.

  4. Did you hear back from #1 above yet or did we eliminate that one for some reason? I'm fine with Hotel Konvice, but you thought there was a reason why you eliminated that one. I wonder where Rick Steves stays in Cesky Krumlov?

    2. Do we need to confirm they have wifi?

    3. This person on tripadvisor says it does:

We may have it on the train to/from or be able to find it somewhere in town.

Pension Sebastian was recommended on Rick Steves. Rather cheap with wifi and breakfast at 1090 CZK, but I'm not sure where it's at. I sent an inquiry to see if they have availability. There were two other spots on Rick Steves site - Old Inn and Castle View Apartments that are too expensive.

    1. It's a good bit south of downtown.

    2. That would explain the cheap price I suppose

    3. I don't mind walking 15 minutes to downtown. But the train station is then 15 minutes north of downtown, so then suddenly we're a long walk from the train station.

We could consider renting a car and driving from Prague to CK. Gives us more flexibility in terms of how long we can stay there, since we are only there for part of two days.

  6. Heard back from Pension Sebastian but I think we are good with the first one right? Pension Sebastian is 1090 CZK for the night.
