Central Europe Triangle Pass

Not sure if this is a good fare, but could be an option. I'm also not sure if you saw this one already.

  1. Online reviews say the Danube boat trip is kind of boring and not as scenic as you might thing.

Train might work. Maybe the triangle pass makes sense.

  2. I'm fine with skipping that trip if it doesn't make sense on multiple levels. I'm sure we can find a boat trip if we really want one while we are there.

  3. So, it looks like for $140 we each get a train ticket from Budapest to Vienna and Vienna to Prague.

The triangle pass includes a 3rd one way fare, but it can't be used for Cesky Krumlov, Budweis or Bratislava. It's only good for Vienna, Prague, Budapest, and Salzburg.

It costs extra to reserve seats.

Budapest to Vienna on Monday, May 21 is $64/ticket for economy and $94/ticket for comfort.

Vienna to Prague on Thursday May 24 or Friday, May 25 is $102/ticket for economy and $150/ticket for comfort.

So, the triangle pass at least saves us money on those two one-ways, assuming we don't make reservations. I have no idea how much of a gamble that is.
